Projects
In the first phase of building the TOPO-WECEP network, existing research positions relevant to topics addressed by TOPO-WECEP projects ought to be contributed on a voluntary basis to the network. Such positions may be hosted at Universities, Geo-Surveys or Academies. These positions and projects need to be described, collected by the National Coordinators and transmitted to the Coordination Centre. Projects discussed at the EUCOR-WECEP 2008 conference were:
- LABTOP: Lithosphere-Asthenosphere Boundary Topography (U. Achauer)
- MOMODE: Monitoring and Modelling Deformation of the WECEP area (B. Heck)
- HIRES: High resolution European Velocity and Velocity Gradient Field from space geodetic data (M. Becker)
- LITHMEM: Lithosphere Memory in North Central Europe: understanding controls on neotectonic basin reactivation (M. Scheck-Wenderot)
- VEMTOP: Vertical Motion and Topography of the WECEP (R. van Balen)
- ECVP: European Cenozoic Volcanic Province – Plume-like instabilities in the Upper Mantle (ILP Taskforce 8: M. Wilson)
- PALMAP: Cenozoic palaeogeographic evolution of the WECEP area (J-P. Berger)
- RIVER: Response of river systems to Neogene and Quaternary climate changes and tectonics (Ph. Gibbard)
- SEITECT: Seismotectonics and present Stress Field (O. Heidbach)
- GEOTHERM: Geothermal energy potential, thermal tomography (to be nominated)
- GEOEXCES: ESF Exploratory workshop on GEOthermal EXploration and Coupled solid Earth System modeling (GEO-EXCES) (J.D. van Wees, submitted)
